Module 3   Activities

Unit 1  She's writing a letter.

I. Warmer

    1.Tell the ss that you are going to tell them what to mime and they have to do it.

    2.Start by giving the structions and doing the mimes yourselves and getting the ss to copy you.

    3.Then give them instructions and get them to do it by themselves.For example,you will say"mime taking a picture"and they have to mime it.

    4.Put the ss into groups.One s gives the intruductions and the other s do the mimes.

II. Listen and point.

    1. Tell the ss to close their books.

    2.Tell them that you are going to play the tape and they are going  to hear four actions(taking a picture,watching TV,reading a book,writing a letter).

    3.Tell them that when they hear the actions,they have to mime doing this.

    4.Go through a mime for each of the four actionsso that the ss are clear what they ahave to do.

    5.Now play the tape.The ss listen and do the mimes.You may want to do it more than once.

    6.Now get the ss to open the books.Listen and point at the pictures as they listen.

III. Point and say.

    1.Invite four ss to the front of the classroom.

    2.Whisper in their ear one thing each that they should mime doing.

    3.Get them to mime the activities in front of the classroom.

    4.Get the rest of the class to tell you what mimes they are doing.

    5.Now you can do the activity in the book.The ss can work together.One s points at a picture and the other s says who it is and what he/she is doing.

VI. Extension Activity 1

    1.Tell the ss to choose  an activity and to draw a simple picture of the activity.Now tell the ss that you are going to call out activities .If they have drawn the picture to represent that activity,they should stand up and hold the picture.

    2. Continue like this and after a while,get them to swap pictures so they have a diffrent picture and have to listen for different verbs.

 

 Unit 2   What are you doing?

I. Warmer

    1.Get some pictures of people doing things,or use the flashcards that come with the book of if there is none,I will draw some pictures myself.

    2.Place the pictures on the wall around the classroom.

    3.Tell the ss that you are going to call out activities and they have to piont to the correct picture.

II. Listen ,point and say.

    1.Tell the ss to close their books.

    2.Tell them that they are going to listen to a tape and they have to mime the actions they hear.

    3.Play the tape again ,but this time tell the ss that they should open their books and point at the picture.

III. Act it out.

    1.For this activity ,put the ss into groups of 5 or 6.

    2.Tell the ss that 3 or 4 ss do mimes and one s asks the questions and one s answers.

    3.Do an example in front of the class to make the activity clear.

VI. Draw and say.

     1.Tell the ss to draw this grid.

     2.Explain that they have to follow the teacher's instructions .The teacher is going to describe the  contents of each box and they have to draw it.

     3.Then, the ss can work in pairs.One s calls out the number of a box and the other s says what is in the box.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Module 4  In the Park

Unit 1 What are they doing?

I. Warmer.

  1.Start by reminding the ss of different actions.

  2.Tell the ss that you are going to mime some actions and they have to call out the verb you are miming.

Examples

T:(mimes playing table tennis)

SS:You are playing table tennis.

T:(mimes singing a song)

SS:You are singing a song.

  3.Continue like this and then get the ss to do the same in pairs.This will quickly revise lots of verbs.

II. Listen and point.

  1.Divide the class into two groups.

  2.Tell half the class to write the word "Daming" on a pice of paper and half the class to write the word "Amy".

  3.Tell the ss to close their books.

  4.Tell them that you are going to play the tape and they have to listen and then after each sentence say who was speaking.If it was Daming ,then the s with "Daming"should stand up ,call out "Daming" and hold up their piece of paper .If it was "Amy" should stand up.

  5.Play the tape one sentence at a time.

  6.This is a nice way to introduce the dialogue.

  7.Now get the ss to open the books and follow the story while you play it again.

III.Act it out.

  1.Before starting,get the ss to think of as many activities as possible and write them on the board.

 Activities

Playing footble.

Playing table tennis.

Brushing my teeth .

Washing my face.

eating noodles.

driving a car.

rowing a boat.

riding my bike.

  2.Now put the ss into groups of four.Two ss have to mime actions and the third s then asks the fourth student what they are doing.

  3.The fourth s must answer.

  4.Then get them to change roles and continue.

 

 

 

 Unit 2   What is amy doing?

I. Warmer

  1.Write lots of verbs on one side of the board and nouns on the other.

  2.tell the ss to copy them down and then match them by drawing a line to connect the verb to its noun.

  3.This will help them with many of the common collections between their verbs and nouns.

  4.Check their work and then tell them that you are going to call out the verbs and they have to mime them.

II. listen and point.

  1.Before starting the excercise ,get the ss to focus on the pictures.
